Research On Information Service And Scheduling Of Campus Data Grid

Resource competition and wasting is a big contradiction in campus. Author wants to build a Campus Data Grid(CDG) to resolve it. In CDG environment, data is distributed on the nodes which are also distributed. Users have to access to the CDG data or publish their data to CDG randomly. CDG is needed to respond to so many requests from users efficiently. So, a proper scheduler of CDG is needed. In order to make the scheduler, CDG need an information service module, which gathers all kinds of information of each node and sends them to the scheduler. Based on the information service, scheduler will be able to distribute tasks to various nodes and make them executed parallel and efficiently. There are many kinds of Grid platforms. Globus is the most popular one. It has helped building many grid applications in the world, such as European Data Grid. It is helpful to develop a grid test bed. Author chose Globus Toolkit2.4 as the grid platform to develop CDG and built a grid environment. CDG information service was researched and some functions were implemented. A scheduling algorithm for CDG was also researched and implemented. Author has tested both modules and proved they are working properly. At first part of this paper author introduces the development of grid and Globus Project. The development and architecture about CDG are introduced at the second part. At the third part, LDAP and MDS-2 of Globus Toolkit2.4 are introduced in detail. How CDG information service and scheduler are implemented is explained at the fourth part of this paper. At fifth part, some testing data chart and viewdata graphics are showed with some conclusion. The sixth part, the last part of the paper, is the review of author's work and the prospect of future work.
