| With the development of computer networks in the past decades, resource sharing always gone with us.No matter the initial network APARNET or the Internet nowadays, resource sharing is always the most important part of the networking. Among these resource sharing modes, ftp mode must be the most important one. From the ftp services provided by mainframe computer, cluster servers, and the later remoting file sharing, all are for the convienence of rapid access the information for the clients. Based on the traditional FTP service, the article analyzed the principles and the faults of the traditional ftp services and also give a full descriptions of the gird ftp system. The article first introduced the architecture and the layered structures of the grid ftp system.From the architecture and structures of the grid ftp system. Then the article introduced the directory and file model based on LDAP protocol and the uniform organized server model. Later the article introduced the mapping relationships between logical files and physical files and the mapping relationships between logical servers and physical servers. After introducing the model and mapping relationships, the article describle the establishment and maintenance of the server resources.the article also used large words to introduce the three searching aims and the searching processing and also the complexity degrees. At the same time, the article describled how can the grid ftp system to be more efficient to the traditionary ftp mode. After introducing the download method through searching, the article introduced another method, the method through browing to access the file and then redirecting to the most efficient server when the users do not know the file name.To achieve the best efficiency, the distribution of files must be reasonable.because of this,the file must be copied,removed,and some times be deleted. Network safety is also the most important part of the grid ftp system, so we achieved our safety through Globus toolbox.
