Today, many scientists focus on biological computing. With the development of dealing with great deal of distributed biological data and increase of computing power requirement, it is a complex and practical problem to utilize computing resource and data resource effectively. How to fit the demand is a hotspot. The Grid provides coordinated resource sharing and problem solving environment in dynamic, multi-institutional virtual orgnizations. Employed with Grid technology, global resources, including computing resource, data resource and service resource can be effectively and widely shared by a great deal of nodes. Establishing biological Grid environment can solve those problems of biological computing.In this dissertation, firstly, some Grid systems which were developed by foreign and domestic institutes for biological data management were introduced and SeuBioGrid platform architecture was presented.Grid architecture standard, including Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA), Open Grid Service Infrastructure (OGSI) and Globus Toolkit 3.0 were discussed, here. The difference between Grid service and web service was analyzed when Grid service was introduced into SeuBioGrid platform. The information service in GT3 is detailed in this paper, and an instance was presented.Secondly, a Grid service called Distance Grid service was developed to express the aggregation of the protein dense pattern in biological data mining field, and to solve the distance of affiliated matrix. The new style of programming model in Grid environment was also described, with the procedure of creating Grid service and how to realize message level security of Grid service.Finally, Grid node information portlet which provide grid nodes resource information to researchers and normal users was designed by Portal and portlet technology to make Grid service easy to use by others. In the development environment named Gridsphere developed by GridLab Project, some instance procedures were carried out to represent the process of calling the Grid Service by Portlet.After the shortcomings of those tools which were used to query static information and service information of grid nodes were analysed,the method of using portlet to solve these problem was presented and The GridNodeInfo Portlet which can be used to query the integrated information of Grid Node was realized.
