Globus-based Resources And Service Management Research

Grid is a stable environment. It combines all kinds of instruments, computional resources and information resources managed by different virtual orgnizations in a large scale, enabling applications access conveniencely. The rapid development of computer network and exploded increasement of the information in network is the main reason of grid technology emerged and developed rapidly. Globus Toolkit (we will call it "Globus"below) is an open source grid platform, which is widely studied and is the best representation. It's key technology is resources and services. All protocols and technologies in the lower layer are organized to provide perfect services for the grid users. Meanwhile, Globus only provided a platform for the grid developers now. It needs a lot of grid developers to pay a number of efforts to utilize, to provide variety of practical applications for grid users. But, by now, the development organizations, projects and visual productions are too lack. According to this status, we began our research with an application——File Transport Service. First of all, we analysed the mechanism of resource and service management in Globus, and heavily studied the theories and technologies in the GridFTP protocol located in the lower layer. Based on the actual needs, we brought forward a two-stage development aim, and implemented them in detail. For the second stage aim, we researched the implement technologies and tools in it according to the infrastructure of data grid in deep, and brought forward the implement framework and design. Because the limit of time, it should be carefully studied and implemented in detail in our further work.
