Remote Digital Video Surveillance System is widely applied in many fields, such as bank, electric power, hydropower, education, etc. It has great significance for security guaranty of industrial production and life of people. At present, Remote Digital Video Surveillance System has been increasing applied in many fields with the development of technologies and improvement of standard of living and productivity, and it according to the developing trend of digital, networking and intelligence in current info community. So the exploitation of MAN-based remote digital video surveillance system platform with powerful performance will have good outlook.Based on digital video compression, network, flow media, a remote digital video surveillance system platform has been designed and implemented which focus on video storage and transmission. The whole system is composed of video server, manager server, client, which integrated by Web Services. In order to meet QoS of video transmission, a modified self-adaptive transmitted control strategy for real time multimedia has been designed. The strategy utilizes information of QoS that collected by RTP/RTCP to analyze the condition of network, realizes bandwidth adjustment automatically to reduce packet loss and the jitter of stream, improve the smooth characteristic of stream and the performance of system.In this paper, firstly we illustrate the function, characteristic and theory elements. Secondly, introduce the hardware framework, soft framework and the solution of all kind of key technology of Remote Digital Video Surveillance System. We stress on video transmission as well as the study and design of self-adaptive transmitted control strategy and particular design of each subsystem. At the end of this paper, we evaluate the performance of the system, discuss further job and look forward to the direction of remote digital video surveillance system.
