With the needs of production and life and the progress of science and technology, video surveillance system is moving toward embedded, networking and wireless direction. The small size, invisible, low cost, high performance, low power, using 3G wireless network characteristics of 3G wireless network video monitoring system is the future trend of development. But almost wireless network video surveillance systems use high-performance processor and video codec chip, which makes high cost of hardware and software. Expensive equipment and system software not only did not reflect the advantage of lower costs, but also hindered the embedded wireless network video surveillance system widely used.If the embedded video monitoring system using the general embedded processors can not meet real-time, a large amount of video compression processing and data transmission requirements, and if using a dedicated embedded processors and video compression chip will be high-cost, difficult to develop. This paper aims to study the realization of video capture, H.264/MPEG4 hardware video compression and streaming of video surveillance system using low-cost general-purpose embedded processor S3C6410 with single-chip integrated MCU and video hardware codec module by full playing video hardware codec performance. Focus on the principle and method of the realization of H.264/MPEG4 hardware video compression which meet the requirements of video monitoring system using general-purpose embedded processor S3C6410. Difficulty is to modify audio and video software codec library FFmpeg, add the S3C6410 video hardware encoder and achieve DeviceSource class in the multimedia library Live555 to complete real-time video stream transmission. Verify the feasibility of the single-chip MCU and video codec module program and the correctness of H.264/MPEG4 video hardware compression using general-purpose embedded processor S3C6410 by view the surveillance video with PC,mobile phone and other device.This paper design and implement a low-cost, high-performance, development technology easy to popularize embedded video surveillance system with embedded technology, video compression coding technology and streaming media technology. Provide a reference for embedded wireless network video monitoring.
