Network video surveillance system is the current hot spot of video surveillance.In this paper,an in-depth research is made of video compression algorithms of MPEG-4.On this basis,this paper designs and implements hardware system and the corresponding firmware of network video surveillance server,and develop a network video surveillance client software system.The following work and research results had been made.First,video capture Module Design:The module is implemented by CPLD logic.The YUV sequence,of which output format is 4:2:2,is resampled to 4:2:0;To facilitate block segmentation in follow coding,Y,U,V are separately stored in the memory in different regions;Making the change of control register can choose different resolution for sampling;To meet the need of real-time property,double-buffer is designed.Second,video coding module design:On the basis of in-depth research of MPEG-4,the search algorithm of motion estimation is optimized,which is running correctly on DSP.Third,Data transmission module design:The module is designed based on the TCP/IP protocol,which responds to the requests of authorized users on network and send MPEG-4 video streaming.Forth,client software design:The software runs on Windows-based PC platform,and is developed by VC,which including data receiving,video decoding,video display,storage and search.The experiment results show that:In this paper,the design of the network video surveillance server can achieve 25fps on QVGA format image data;The client software can achieve four-way video data receiving,decoding,and display in real-time;to store video data, and can be retrieval an play.On the whole,it achieve the anticipated result.
