WEB Based Monitoring And Control System

In this thesis, the problem named as "island of automation system existing broadly in domestic enterprise was studied. After the reasons for this problem were analyzed, solution methods for it were reviewed. The main idea of these solutions is to build a uniform platform, which has two structures of both 'B/S' (Browser/Server) and 'C/S' (Client/Server), over the existing different kinds of DCS (Distributed Control System). A solution was proposed and implemented by comparing these two structures. It consists of three components: monitoring component; component of database and Web server; display component as browser. On the platform, automation information including field real-time data, history data, the attribute data of pictures and images can be transferred and shared.In order to monitor and control the field devices, IFIX software of Intellution corp. was selected to get real-time data and history data and create the configuration pictures which is composed of objects. To share all of data, SQL server was used for managing field history data. And the semi-structured text files system was established for organizing the attribute data of pictures and images. Also, the ActiveX control was developed for transferring and sharing the real-time data.In the IFIX VBA editor, the interface linking history database and management database was developed with ADO technology. ActiveX was coded with VB6.0 for transferring the real-time data on Internet. Both pictures and images can be rebuilt and displayed on the browsers with ASP, HTML and ActiveX technologies. The safety of data on Internet can be assured by methods of identification and digital signature. In the system, the following functions has been realized, managing and configuring the field data; transferring the real-time and history data; displaying the pictures and images; showing the data from database on the browser; building the user database and managing the internet pages.The solution has been tested in the lab and proved to be feasible and valuable. It is significant for enterprises to realize the remote monitoring and control to improve the management of enterprise, especially, for the middle and small factory whose capital is not rich.
