The research of the article is about the transmission optical network of Metro, which belongs to Wide Band metropolitan area network.The service of Wide Band develops at a fast speed. All telecom carriers are building their own Wide Band transmission optical network of Metro, in order to get advantage in serious competition. It is a big problem to all telecom carriers how to build it.First, the article analyses the current situation of the Wide Band transmission optical network of Metro and put forward its target of next development. And it continues to talk about the key technology of the Wide Band transmission optical network of Metro: optical caber, MSTP, DWDM, RPR and make comparison with them. It offers the general plan of construction of the Wide Band transmission optical network of Metro.Secondly, the thesis analyses the key technology of the Wide Band transmission optical network of Metro—MSTP. The technique concept and the function model of MSTP are introduced; The thesis makes analysis of the technique character of MSTP and TDM. The key technology –VC concatenation and virtual concatenation theory,LCAS protocol is detailed; And it analyses the technique character of MSTP supporting Ethernet business including all kinds of protocol for frame: PPP,LAPS,SDL,GFP. And it analyses the technique character of MSTP supporting ATM. It details the character of ATM and the major application of ATM in Metro network.At last, it introduces the practical example of MSTP. One is the application of Ethernet service, which analyses the application ofthe transparent transmission, double –layer transmission, VLAN. Another designs the network application of transmission optical network of Metro in the construction of 3G based on MSTP. It describes the concept and standard of 3G. It put forward the practical application plan of 3G transmissions through the introduction of the concept of 3G and analysis of the affection of 3g on transmission. It gives the technique character of the MSTP equipment of huawei and its typical application solution.
