First, this paper analyzes the advantage of MSTP, discusses the structure and key-board about MSTP, including the clock board, cross board, EMU board, service-board. Second, analyses the key technologies of MSTP, such as GFP, LCAS, MPLS, RPR. Then, develops around the design and application of EOS Service board in MSTP. I tell of the theory of EOS, and select IC8FE, IC2GE, IC28SW, and IC16VC which are the key chip. and then design and realize the hardware of EOS Switch Service board . After the finish of hardware design and debugging, the main job is to design software including the register configuration of switch and key chip, board-manage software. I adopt the CPU32B as the cpu, develop the software based on RTOS001, use Tornado as the compiler. It took me three months to develop and debug the software. Then the Testing Department established a strict test plan and tested the hardware and software in details.Now the EOS board is in the successful application in the Telecomm of LuZhou,Sichuan. At present, With the perfect and enhancement of MSTP's function, Many provinces and cities adopt MSTP to strengthen their networks. I believe the MSTP will come to a scale application.
