Research On Evaluation Of Academic Library Web Sites Based On Quantitative Analysis

The character of random of issuance information on web brings people much trouble for using effectively Internet information. The evaluation of correlation web sites and its information can provide powerful evidence for users to estimate to accept or reject Internet information, which realizes the effective use of Internet information .The application of quantitative analysis in this paper makes the evaluation of web sites more comparable and accurate.This dissertation consists of four parts:Part 1 has summarized the correlative issues and present status of evaluation of web sites as a whole. Evaluating web sites not only keeps up exerting the function of the section of information service that help users select and utilize, but also confirms the commonest " core web sites/pages". Nowadays, the body of web sites evaluation is developing from individual and university organ of document service to more forms. The object of evaluation is developing from integrated web sites to special web sites and the index of evaluation is progressing for the unity qualitative and quantitative analysis.Part 2 is the focal and innovative point of this paper. According to the five principal of construction, the whole object can be confirmed, viz. information resource of web sites and pages. The whole object is decomposed to primary index and secondary index, and then the index system is build. The weight score of every index can be calculated by AHP, and then the total table is formed. The structure of web site evaluation is established finally when mathematical model is set up.In part 3, author uses model to evaluation our country's library web sites. Every web site can be marked in terms of the design index of evaluation table after the weight score of the index of every level is worked out using judgment matrix, then the final result is concluded. We can see that the excellent grade, e.g. the library web site of Shanghai Jiao tong University and the library web site of Tsinghua University etc.and the eligible grade, e.g. the library web site of Shandong University and the library web site of Zhejiang University are all few. The most focus on the good grade, e.g. the library web site of Huazhong University of science and technology and the library web site of Beijing University.Part 4 is conclusion of evaluation according to the course and result of evaluation. Our country's present academic library web sites have traditional library and online library function, but don't truly realize online library function. The integrated mode is all canonical and is developing for standardization and unification. Author bring forwards relevant suggestion in allusion to the problems in the course of evaluation, e.g. the whole structure, the level of web pages and the content of information and so on.
