The publishing industry has become a significant part of the knowledge economy. The global tide of informationization impacts on the publishing industry. For the modern publishing industry, informationization will become some kind of trend. After entering the WTO, publishing houses in China are now facing the challenge of re-adjusting the industrial structure and transforming the mechanism at the age of the economic globalization and information networking. It becomes very important for the publishing houses in China to improve the competitiveness by strengthening the level of informationzation.Because the information flow of the Chinese publishing industry is not so smooth, and the market changing has increased the stock and return rate of the publishing house, the manual order handling system has become not suitable for the rapid business growth. As the circulation department in the publishing house is directly open to the market, it has more demands for the informationization.The publishing informationization should move its first step from the informationization of distribution.The whole target of the dissertation is to establish the development strategy of informationization for the publishing house in China, and discuss the process and ways of informationization. The dissertation bases on the stage theory about the development progress of the information system. According to the "Mische Model", it elaborates the strategy progress and the methods for the publishing house in China.First, the informationization of distribution for the publishing house in China should take order with the process data, build a strong management information system, and optimize the process, then build the website, expand the distribution channel to improve the service level for the readers, and prepare for the further application of e-business. During the process, some successful methods from the other industry can be used for reference, such as CRM and ERP. The methods should accord with the specialty of the publishing industry in China.The dissertation takes the distribution MIS of Peking University Press for example, introducing the function and application that a distribution MIS should have. It also takes the website of the People's Press for example, pointing out that it is necessary to integrate the website and MIS for improving the informationization level. And the dissertation takes the CNPIEC introducing the CRM and the Higher Education Press introducing the ERP for examples, elaborating the progress conduced by the modem management methods.The informationization of distribution in the publishing house is a systemic project. The principle of "people oriented" should be maintained. The information awareness must be trained and carried through in the publishing house. And the purpose and the methods must be unified during the process of informationization.
