Oil monitoring is one of monitoring and diagnosis technology used widely in industry. There are several kinds of oil monitoring, for example: Infrared spectrum analysis, oil spectrum analysis, contamination analysis, oil physical chemistry analysis and so on. The acquired data by the above methods can reflect oil performance and characteristic of particles, and be further analyzed to the faults in a monitoring machine. The data from all oil sample analysis tests is numerous and data type is also different. It is very difficult for the person to extract useful data from these so much data. This becomes main problem for the development of oil monitoring. On the other hand, the oil monitoring data management systems are all based on inputting data into the base by hand.The oil monitoring center of Wuhan university of Technology is selected as the research platform. This research uses the advanced technology such as compute, network, active server page to study the software of automatic oil monitoring lab. Many oil monitoring collection ways are studied, and the way of the automobile data collection based on RS-232C protocol, of the text file collection, of the binary data collection, and of the data remote collection are studied carefully. The data stream technology is used to develop a image data collection and transfer system. The data collection, conversion and transfer program corresponding to output device and interface is worked out to let data from oil monitoring device input into the remote database; The oil monitoring database based on SQL Server is finished; The oil monitoring database management system based on Client/Server(C/S) is work out to manage the oil monitoring data, device and oil sample standard; The advanced Browse/Server (B/S) database management technology is used to developed image of wear particle management system. The network user can browse, modify, update and edit the image of wear particle. This manage system has user's limitation powerin order to prevent user from transcending the limitation power to manage the picture system. In a conclusion, this paper has explored ways to automate the oil-monitoring lab.
