Research On Collaborative Product Customization ASP Platform

The ASP (Application Service Provider)-based Networked manufacture model is an important aspect of the future IT services.In the paper, the problems of product customization system are analyzed, the basic principles of product customization and ASP platform are introduced, and then the thought of CPC-ASP(collaborative product customization ASP) is advanced. The CPC-ASP platform overcomes two main problems existed, as follows: (1) the platform can integrate customer actions into enterprise actions in close cooperation, can give full scope to customer creativity, and then the order can embodied the customer demand. (2) The platform lowers enterprise implementation costs.The CPC-ASP is a collaborative product commerce platform being geared to the needs of information era. It can build up an audio-visual, collaborative and interactive commerce environment for enterprise and customer.And then the basic principles, framework, key techniques and organization model on CPC-ASP platform are researched. There are two key techniques on CPC-ASP: the technique of Internet-based multi-media exchange and VRML-based product visualization and the technique of product information management in distributed and heterogeneous environment. The former is basic technique of building up collaborative customization environment; the latter provides valid mechanism for product information storage and access in heterogeneous environment.Finally, an example is introduced to illustrate the realization of CPC-ASP. It represents the goal, function modules and main interfaces of CPC-ASP.
