Research And Realization Of A General Multimedia CAI System

The computer has already become the indispensable tool in people's study, work and living. Along with the development of computer technique, Computer Assisted Instruction is more and more important, it got the unprecedented development, especially with the emergence of multimedia technique and network technique. The form, method and contents of teaching take place the biggest variance. Such as the teaching mode of explaining in details with writing on the blackboard convert into the mode of text, picture, animation, audio, video, various media coexisting, students can study with computer interactively. But now, the Coursewares we use are mostly finished product for some subjects, eg. English and Computer.The system specially used to develop Courseware is a few, maily is Authorware.But the Coursewares developed with it are alone, and difficult to be indexed, shared and evaluated. So it is very important to research related technique to develop complete Courseware.This system is developed with the object-oriented language Visual Basic6.0, basing on the summary of other CAI softwares, and is applied in the Universities, and can be used to make and mange Coursewares and testbases of many subjects altogether. Teachers can use the CAI to construct and show the different subject softwares with the same format, to teach and make test paper. Students can use the system to learn and exercise according to the teaching.The CAI system is divided into three molds, they are edit mold, teaching mold and examination mold. The three molds are independence with each other,and also constitue a united system. In the system, the Courseware has the characteristics of gathering, interactive, enlarged and general. The system has the stronger editing ability of word and graphic; supports rich media play modes; realizes smoothly interactive. Users can edit the word, graphic, picture, voice, animation and movie together, and also can edit formula, the system realizes the mixed arrange of word and picture, and text-to-speech.This article emphasizes on the technologies in my research and some relative theories, and also points out the direction of the further work.
