Abstract/Summary:
The study of databases is core for undergraduate and graduate courses related to computer science and information systems. However, database topics, such as those related to security, are typically presented through static mediums. As a consequence, many students think that this is not enough for learning important themes.;This thesis presents a web-based courseware that illustrates, through the use of demonstrations, animations, tutorials and code samples, important concepts and useful techniques. The courseware content was divided into five learning modules covering topics such as SQL Injection, Row Level Security, Multilevel Security, Statistical Database and Cryptography.;A questionnaire was the research instrument used to measure the students' knowledge, opinions and preferences in relation to the use of interactive multimedia resources as support for learning. Results indicate that students have and use informatics tools appropriately and value the support that these can provide them.
