Fault Management is a key functional area of Network Management System, but currently deployed applications often implement rudimentary diagnosis and alarm mechanism, also can't supply accurately fault location information and realize fault management for non-SNMP devices. For these purposes, Ethernet Fault Alarm Mechanism with Component GIS applied, ADSD Algorithm based on agent group and Diagnosis Algorithm special for non-SNMP devices are presented in this paper. The proposed alarm method can provide fast accurately fault devices location with detailed geography information, prompt the efficiency of Fault Management and improve the reliability of network services. ADSD Algorithm based on agent group is proposed in this paper, it can adapt to nowadays Ethernet's operation situation and achieve correct diagnosis for fault-free nodes, but an Group Replication Workstation which keep and access the replicated objects of every group member is necessary in each agent group.
