Gear power transmission is mainly through gear meshing to transmit power, realizing reducing and increasing speed or changing direction. Generally high speed gear is that circumference speed exceeds 25m/s. It is execesively applied in power transmission equipment and other kinds of machineries. As a kind of key equipment of most branches in national economy, the reliability of high speed gear units is definitely important. Any accidents will result in serious loss. For this reason, it needs strict demand for design and manufacture. GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear box is hard gear side box which is according to national criteria to design and manufacture. Its structure form is outside engaged straight fear, oblique tooth gear or herringbone gear of single, closed and parallel axis. It is extensively used in industrial fields, such as metallurgy, mine, petrochemical, chemical, building materials, transmission, power generation, military affairs and etc.CAD technique goes through 2D drafting, curved surface model-making, solid model-making, parameter, variable from a long-term development. Now it uses parameter and variable as the technical core to develop series 3D CAD software system, which become a primary meansto exploit new product at present. But now, this technique is relatively backward in our nation. It is very urgent to improve internal CAD applied technique. Combining GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear transmission system and our practical application, taking SolidWorks 2001 as programing platform for secondary development, the GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear transmission CAD software system has been set up. This software system solved the problems such as data optimization calculations, 3D model-making and etc. It also has great significance for reality. This subject mainly focuses on as follows:1. Generalizing the feature of every kind of 3D CAD software and combining the applied situation of their secondary development, the author choices SolidWorks as development platform, provide a kind of new secondary development method which combine Visual C++ 6.0 and Visual Basic 6.0. The exploiting method is useful for other CAD software secondary development.2. Referencing other gear optimizing calculation, combining the feature of high speed gear, the author put forward a king of optimizing calculation method of high speed involute cylindrical gear transmission system, which improved the reliability design of GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear unit.3. In this article, the author discussed the modeling method based on character, analyzed the character of gear, box and standard parts, put forward a kind of modeling method of parts in GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear unit. This method is the same with 3D modeling of other kinds of parts.4. The author particularly discussed the drafting method of involute, usingSPLine which is defined by many points to construct involute. Compared with other involute defined by arc or straight line segment, the precision of this kind of involute is improved evidently. 5. It is a foundation of analyse of intensity and kinematic or dynamic imitation that the realization of 3D-modeling of GS series high speed involute cylindrical gear unit.
