Computer Integrated Process System is the application of CIM theory in Process Industry. From enterprise-view, CIPS combines a variety of technologies such as automation, information technology, computer science and enterprise management, which proves to be a large and complex system project. CIMS Framework is the effective and necessary guideline for analysis, design and implementation of CIPS.Database, an important branch of computer science, is one of supporting technologies of CIPS, which refers to process control system, management information system and decision support system, or even every module of CIPS. The thesis discusses database technology and its application in CIPS background. The followings are about the contents of each chapter.1. The definition of CIPS is introduced. The chapter compares CIPS with CIMS in discrete manufacturing industry. Indicating the importance of CIMS Framework, the author summarizes several famous frameworks in CIMS area. Besides, the weakness of these frameworks has been pointed out, and another new opinion is introduced.2. This chapter introduces the basic theory of database technology and the recent hot issues in database area. Besides, several database management systems have been discussed in contrast.3. This chapter discusses Real-time database technology in process control system. Issues including data consistency, transaction model and parallel control have been analyzed in detail.4. Chapter four is the most important chapter in this thesis, and includes the database technology and database system in the context of management information system. Taking Qingshan Papers Sales Information System as an example, the author analyzes some technical issues of MIS design and development.5. The last chapter discusses database warehouse, on-line analysis process and deductive database system.
