Since 1970's, Ethernet rate has been developed from 10Mbps to 100Mbps, 1Gbps, even 10Gbps. In the applications, Ethernet shows better characteristics of high perfor- mances(reliability and expansibility), inexpensive price and usage convenience. Its mar- ket shares high amount to 85% above with the governance position in the local network. It has satisfied the demands of the people's life and production.In recent years, along with problems of the real-time, stability and anti-jamming properties of Ethernet gradually resolved, researches of Ethernet applications in process automation area have risen again and a lot of the famous factories and international or- ganizations of the Fieldbus standard have thrown themselves into the research of the in- dustry Ethernet. Currently applications of Ethernet at industry mainly concentrate at the construction regarding control as the center, and soon there will be Ethernet equipments suiting for the field equipments needs in price and performance.After making a comprehensive view of Ethernet technique's development status in process automation and integrating many domestic and international corporations' pro- ducts' traits and developing trend, the author recognizes the Ethernet technique will be widely adopted in the industry with advantages of its oneself. According to the develop- ment of control system based on Ethernet, there will be the similar problem as develop- ment of computer network, namely networks with each other connecting. Although there are a lot of connecting network products in market, they are all to for Office Auto- mation and can't satisfy requests of the industry control area. Therefor, it seems to be particularly necessry to develop the industry connect-network products on time. The re- mote bridge system equipments in this thesis can meet the connecting demand of long distance industry Ethernets, which conjunction medium can be the electric cable, fiber optic and current communication network in order to realize networks with each other connecting.This thesis studies the Ethernet characteristics, the real-time property of the remote Ethernet bridge system information and the simulation model, and analyses design para- meters affecting the system performance. Then, according to the conclusion,the remote Ethernet bridge system can be improved better for the industry control demand. Finally by making use of Motorola Company's MPC860, which is an integrated communication controller, the remote Ethernet bridge system is realized. By adopting MPC860, the ga-thering of system degree can be increased, the system adaptability of environment abili- ty strengthened, the cost lowered and the product's development period shortened, and at the same time it is easy for the product's upgrade. It is more important for the remote industry Ethernet bridge system to make the industry Ethernet connect with each other possibly, and push Ethernet further into process automation area and create larger social and economic benefits.
