This dissertation elaborates Canadian medium study Scholar Marshall Mcluhan's points of view on media culture. Till now,in academic circles,no final conclusion has yet been reached about Mcluhan's original viewpoints. Therefore,it is imperative to correct the misunderstanding of Mcluhan's theories nowadays.The sixties of last century was Mcluhan's age,he was well known all over the world. Then,his academic reputation was becoming vicissitudinous. Now,media research workers are refocusing their attention on Mcluhan's media theories.Mcluhan's theories such as "global village","the Medium is the Message" are well known,but his some other theories have not been paid much attention to,such as Media Function theory,Media Art theory,Media Evolution theory,etc. The author of this thesis tries to make a systematic exposition of them and compare the viewpoints of Mcluhan with Frankfurt School and British Culture Study School's,and summarize the unique effect of Mcluhan's some opinions .The author points out the important difference and relationship between these thoughts.At the ending of the dissertation,the author points out the importance of reunderstanding Mcluhan's media theories in present circumstances furtherly.
