With the deve1opment of computer network rapid1y, the networkmanagement is more important than ever. Among the network managementarchitectures, SNMP p1ays a significant ro1e. But In our country,app1ication of network management is lagged behind other nations.This article aims at the management of sma11 and midd1e computernetworks, and studies the SNMP framework, the framework of networkmanagement and the manner of developing a network managementappl ication, and then brings forward a feasible design for the theme,and imp1ement an application of network management partly.At first, I study the main parts of SNMP framework, they are SMI, MIBand SNMP. SNMP's version has been developed from l to 3, and the studiesof their appl ications have also deve1oped. But the work in our countryhas dropped behind, and many network management systems we used arepurchased from other countries. So, I bring forward that we must deve1opour al lodi al network management product ions adopt ing se l f--developmentmanner.And then, I ana1ysis the traditona1 C1ient/Server architecture andWeb--based architecture using in SNMP, compare their advantages and disadvantages. using traditiona1 architecture to construct SNMPapplication is expensive to deve1op and inconvenience to manage anddifficu1t to use. Now, the Web techno1ogy is used wide1y, and TheWeb--based three -- tier distributed architecture, i. e. three -- tier B/Sarchitecture, has the advantages which are the disadvantages inCl ient/Server mentioned above. However, this B/S architecture has someshortcomings at the same time, its app1ication cannot be toocomplicated and the data it dea1s with cannot be too much. But thesedisadvantages of B/S architecture are advantages of C/Sarchitecture. So, in article, I put forward the new architecture, that is(B+C)/S architecture. this architecture integrates C/S architectureand B/S architecture, having the two architecture's advantages, andthis (B+C)/S SNMP architecture has a good foreground.Lastly, on the study and ana1ysis above, I design a networkmanagement system which has (B+C) /S architecture. And onse1f--deve1opment manner, implement a manager appl icat ion on WinSNMP,which can browse MIB data stored in agents, and test it on local and in Internet.
