In recent years, the private higher vocational education has rapidly developed into a prominent force of higher vocational education in our country. The essential point of the development of the private institutions lies in the constitution of a solid team of qualified, aspiring and effectively stimulated teaching and administrative staff. To achieve the aim, the private institutions should lay down scientific and appropriate evaluation systems of teachers'performance, including effectively applicable evaluation criteria, procedures and approaches.At present, the evaluation system of teachers of the private institutions in Wu Han can be mainly divided into three parts, which involves the principal evaluation body, the evaluation indicators and the evaluation application. The principal evaluation body is sub-divided into four groups of teaching supervisors, evaluation teams, colleagues and students. The evaluation indicators consist of teaching attitude, teaching programs, teaching approaches and teaching effects. The results of the evaluation are mostly applied in payment analysis and personnel adjustment.When the evaluation systems of the private institutions are further analyzed, it is found that they are devoid of scientific design of indictors, impartial evaluation of students, reasonable evaluation weights, and applicable evaluation results as well. The reasons why these problems arise can be listed as follows: First of all, the private institutions only mechanically imitate the evaluation systems of those public colleges and universities. Besides that, they lack restrictive regulations on part-time teachers'administration. Last but not least, the investment in this is inadequate. With the aim of improving and perfecting the evaluation systems of teachers'performance in the private institutions, these private higher vocational institutions should take measures in the following aspects. Firstly, they should establish scientific evaluation systems of performance, and regulate key indicators of teachers'performance, concerning the successful adoption of balance score card and key performance indicators in enterprises. Secondly, they should possess a team of properly constituted full-time teachers in case too many part-time teachers make the performance evaluation impossible to be conducted or superficially conducted,and they should invest a larger amount of money to employ and take in more excellent, competent teachers. Thirdly, they should establish instant result feedback system so that the results of the performance evaluation can be thoroughly applied. In order to enhance teachers'capability of teaching and performance level, they should set up down-to-earth teaching training system, carrying out pertinent and practical trainings based on teachers'performance.
