Teaching quality is the foundation of which colleges exist and develop. And teaching quality of classroom is the basic assurance of colleges' educational quality. By rating teaching quality, governors of colleges can know questions during the teaching process and hold the information of teaching quality in time. At the same time, rating teaching quality can provide certain basis for colleges improving teaching quality of classroom. So rating teaching quality is very important for managing teaching. As a part of the system of rating teaching, rating teaching quality of classroom is a necessary way to test and supervise teaching process. In general, rating teaching quality of classroom includes teacher self-rating of teaching effectiveness, workmate mutual-rating of teaching effectiveness, expert rating of teaching effectiveness, student rating of teaching effectiveness (SRTE), etc. In the several ways, student rating of teaching effectiveness (SRTE) is more comprehensive and effective than others. Because students are the direct beneficiaries of teaching, and they have proper understanding. So they can give the most persuasion for teachers' teaching and curriculum. At present, student rating of teaching effectiveness (SRTE) has already been a necessary section in rating teaching quality of college. It has been the feature of managing teaching in college. It plays actively function during teaching process.Though it has many studies on student rating of teaching effectiveness (SRTE) which regarding practical level now, it doesn't form systematic theories in higher education area. And there is few theories about the index of SRTE. As a result, the practice of SRTE lack theories to instruct. Thus we need take basic theories study on college SRTE. And for SRTE developing smoothly, we should find out the theory basis of establishing SRTE' s index.Being in the light of the educational value that setting-student-foundation and launching quality-education, connecting the actuality of internal SRTE, in the base of analyzing representative index system of SRTE of internal and external, by applying some basal theories, for example, pedagogics, psychology, education psychology, teaching theory, study psychology, etc. The dissertation analyses systemtically the index system of SRTE and finds out educational theories, principles, and rules. Then, as reference of improving these index systems, the dissertation compares their characteristics.The dissertation expects reaching three purposes:(1) on the idealistic level, try to erect the macro-study consciousness of college' s SRTE, strengthen the thought of which rating promotes teaching and learning, affirm the formative evaluation as the main evaluation mode, improve the efficiency of monitoring teaching process and information feedback.(2) on the theoretical level, try to suggest primary reason about the theory of SRTE, offer some theoretical instruction for setting up the index of SRTE.(3) on the practical level, serve for the normative and scientific evaluation of college' s teaching rating.
