In recent years, a serials of projects on modern distance education in rural areas has been conducting by all levels of our government so as to meet the needs of socialism construction, implement the strategy of "develop our country by science and education", improve the development of education of middle and primary schools both in rural and urban areas, and change the heavy population burden into immense personnel resources. Thus, every citizen could gain an opportunity to receive a better education and have an all-round development. Result from this, a society where all citizens have the life-long study could be formed. Due to the large number of the international aiding projects on modern distance education conducted in rural areas as well as that of our country, the high peak of modern distance education in rural has been reached. Under such grand circumstance, taking the middle and primary schools in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture as subjects, this thesis investigates and analyzes the construction and application of modern distance education in that district. Eventually, the existing problems have been analyzed and the developing strategies have been proposed at the end of the paper.The whole thesis consists of six sections:The first section is the introduction, it is discussed that it is the advantage of modern distance education that make the development of education of minority nationality possible. In addition, the research background, existing situation, purpose, significance, methodology and the research procedure are also introduced.The second section discusses the production, systematic structure, hardware configure of three models of modern distance education. And the teaching function of these three models is stated from the perspective of information transmission.The third section explains the basic situations in the middle and primary schools of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Then the construction situation and developing objectives of educational information in Gannan and educational characteristics of minority nationality areas are all concluded in this part.Based on the above sections, the fourth one put forward the existing questions in the middle and primary schools of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture after interviewing, surveying, observing, and consulting the documents.The fifth section proposes six developing strategies to existing problems in order to promote the full use and consistent development of modern distance education in the middle and primary school of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.The last section summarizes this paper and affirms the achievement which has been obtained. The weakness and the direction to the further direction have been pointed out in this part.
