| BackgroundHuaHen treatment is being applied since 1978 in Guangdong hospital of traditional Chinese medicine dermatologist department. HuaHen treatment is improved from MeiHuaZhen, Widely used for more than 30 years, the HuaHen treatment has a significant effect for skin diseases of hypertrophy, uchenification and severe itching, such as neurodermatitis. HuaHen treatment has been widely recognized by doctors and patient. Actually, we have not a very effective treatment to cure skin diseases of hypertrophy, uchenification and severe itching. In modern medicine, oral antihistamine and topical steroid cream were conventional medical treatment. Many side effects is caused by steroids ointment for the long-term, such as local skin atrophy, telangiectasias, chromatosis, secondary infection and rebound after discontinuation. Traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of the disease is facing the problem as the more slowly and recurrence. Now we treat the neurodermatitis with HuaHen to obsere the clinical effection. Actively explore and give full play to the external treatment of TCM dermatology accelerate the features and advantages. To makes up the deficiency of the current treatments. Looking for the ideal, we are finding a treatment of non-toxic side effects.ObjectiveThis study systematically observed HuaHen treatment to treat limitation neurodermatitis curative effective and side effect of HuaHen. Preliminary exploring the mechanism of HuaHen treatment, and supply the data of research.Methods63 patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 35 cases in treatment group,28 cases in control group. The HuaHen treatment was adopted for treatment group. Five days to accept one times of the treatment, 4 times for a period of treatment. Doing clinical efficacy score for each HuaHen treatment before; the control group treated only with hydrocortisone butyrate ointment (Youzuoer) of topical. The ointment evenly on affected part, gently rub for 1 minute, then to besmear the ointment once, two times a day. two weeks for a period of treatment, weekly return visit once, and do the clinical curative effect score.In both before and after the treatment of patients with each visit and make the symptom score, including the uchenification and area of lesions, and by patients self-assessment itching score and smile score. All material are faithfully record, in order to better clinical curative effect evaluation.ResultsIn treatment group, there were 35 patients completed the therapy,2 patients were cured,3 cases were markedly effective, effective in 17 cases, and 13 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate is 62.9%. For the 28 cases completed therapy in control group, no patients were cured,5 cases were markedly effective,2 cases were effective, and 21 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate is 25%. By the rank sum test, suggested that the efficacy difference between two groups has statistical significance (Z=-2.34, P=0.019<0.05), the total efficacy of treatment group is better than the control group. In treatment group, the clinical scores before the treatment werel9.14±4.34; after the treatment, the clinical scores were 8.85±4.49. By the rank sum test, showed that the score comparison of pre and post treatment has statistical significance (Z=-5.162, P=0.000<0.05), the clinical scores after treatment were significantly lower than the scores before treatment. In control group, the clinical scores before treatment were 18.23±3.89; after treatment, clinical scores were 11.98±6.50. Through the rank sum test, the clinical scores comparison before and after treatment have statistical significance (Z=-4.203, P=0.000<0.05), the scores after treatment were significantly lower than scores before treatment. After the treatment, clinical scores of treatment group were 8.85±4.49; clinical scores were 11.98±6.50 in control group. By the rank sum test, it showed that score comparison of both groups in post treatment has statistical significance (Z=-2.390, P=0.017<0.05), the clinical scores of treatment group was significantly lower than the control group after the treatment. Conclusion The HuaHen treatment for limitation neurodermatitis has good curative effect, especially for uchenification and itching. The HuaHen treatment got patients and clinicians recognition, and its operation method is simple and easy to master, should make further development and related promotion.The mechanism of HuaHen treatment in treating limitation neurodermatitis has not be defined. We are trying to explore the relationship with Chinese medicine theory. HuaHen treatment is using the scalpel blade finescratch the lichenification skin. It Causes the lichenification skin slightly ooze blood. Meanwhile, the pathogenic factor and blood stasis are outflow. Balance Yin Yang and blood by stimulating the lichenification with the scalpel blade, which is helpful to the lichenification skin recovering.
