ObjectivesObserve the clinical efficacy of needle warming moxibustion of Dazhui point combining with electro-acupuncture treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR), which is according to states of viscera and channels, thus providing the curative effect acupuncture treatment programs for the disease while promoting Chinese clinical regressing to the classic.MethodsBy using randomized controlled trial of clinical research methods, select 60 patients of CSR as the cases of study. According to the ratio of 1:1 are randomly divided into treatment group (needle warming moxibustion of Dazhui point combining with electro-acupuncture) and control group (common electro-acupuncture). Record and observe the scores of NPQ and NRS which evaluate the efficacy at 0 day before treatment and one course of treatment, while record the adverse events in the course of the study, and analyze the scores by the statistic methods.Results1. Before the treatment, the treatment group and the control group in general, NPQ and NRS score are no significant difference (P>0.05).2. After one course of treatment, compared with the score before the treatment, there are significant differences (P<0.05) in both groups'NPQ and NRS score.3. After one course of treatment, both groups'scores are lower and there are no significant differences (P>0.05).4. After one course of treatment, the treatment group's scores of "releasing the pain of neck", "releasing upper limb numbness", "the lasting time of the syndromes" are lower than the control group's; there are significant differences (P<0.05).5. After one course of treatment, there are significant differences (P<0.05) of the efficiency between the two groups, and the treatment group is higher.6. In the course of study, there are no adverse events, such as halo pin, curved needle, broken needle, and hematoma.ConclusionNeedle warming moxibustion of Dazhui point combining with electro-acupuncture and common electro-acupuncture are both effective methods to treat CSR. Both can improve the pain of neck and upper limb numbness of the patients. But needle warming moxibustion of Dazhui point combining with electro-acupuncture is better than common electro-acupuncture in short-term effect.
