Objective:This paper described the relevance of emergency nurses'lifestyle,job stress and quality of life and explored the correlation among this factors. The results will give some advice for the administrants. The aims are to reduce the work pressure and enhance quality of life by improve the lifestyle of them.Methods:This study is a descriptive study using convenience sampling methods. The study questionnaire was conducted from 196 emergency nurses of five three A-level general hospitals in Jinan. The instruments included four parts:the first part is the general questionnaires which collect background information from emergency nurses; second part is the Health-promoting Lifestyle Profile to understand the situation of emergency nurses in the way of life; thirdly is job stress Scale questionnaires were used to measure working pressure of emergency nurses; fourth part is the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-BREF, which scale the quality of life of them.The collected data were analyzed by statistical package SPSS17.0. Statistical methods included descriptive statistics, independent sample t test and analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis.Results:This study investigated 210 emergency nurses of five three A-level general hospitals in Jinan.202 questionnaires were returned in 210 questionnaires,196 questionnaires can be used,97.03% efficiency questionnaire.1. The average score from the Health-promoting Lifestyle Profile of emergency nurses was 61.75±13.32. Among, the highest average score was about the Safety of working place(2.13±0.43). As followed self-realization (2.00±0.48), interpersonal support the development (1.87±0.52), a balanced diet (1.77±0.68), and exercise (0.96±0.48) is the lowest. There were significant differences in health-promoting lifestyles among emergency nurses who were different in the various age groups,gender,educational levels, human relations and marital status.2. The total average about working pressure of emergency nurses is 15.07±2.09 (10.49~20.00). The average score of each dimension is 3.01±0.42. Among 5 dimensions on job stress scale of emergency nurses, the highest score was about the distribution of workload and time (3.24±0.51), and the lowest score was about the management and interpersonal skills (2.59±0.53). Respondents believed that the biggest working stress of emergency nurses were from regular shift, followed by too much work, low wages and other benefits, and so on. The work pressure scores for emergency nurses on night shift were significantly different along with different ages, different nursing age, the different human relations, and different education (P<0.05).3. The score about life quality of emergency nurses was 57.93±8.31 (38.81~85.86). Among various dimensions, social relations gained the highest scoring (60.84±14.21). As followed physiological areas (57.85±13.39) and psychological domain (57.63±14.04). the lowest score was located in environmental areas (46.84±14.42). The average score in all areas was 54.66±8.70 (minimum 20.77 points, up 83.07 points).The scores about life quality of emergency nurses on night shift were obviously different along with age, nursing age, different titles, the situation of human relations (p<0.05).4. The relation between lifestyle and job stress of emergency nurses was negatively correlated (r=-0.173, p<0.05). The same thing occurred among the differently dimensions lifestyle with the nursing profession, the workload and time allocation, management and interpersonal relationship (p<0.05), and the correlation coefficients ranged from 0.141 to 0.179. The relation between lifestyle and life quality of emergency nurses was significantly positively correlated (r=0.564, p<0.01), and the correlation coefficients ranged from 0.391 to 0.564. The contact is most closely between quality of life and the interpersonal development, self-realization and the workplace safety, and the correlation coefficients were 0.453,0.448,0.448, respectively. and the relation between quality of life and job stress of emergency nurses was an obvious negative correlation (r=-0.259, p<0.01), the correlation coefficient was from 0.160 to 0.274.Conclusion:1. The score about lifestyle of emergency nurses was lower, and the status to enforce health lifestyle was poor.2. The working pressure of emergency nurses was serious, and obviously higher than that of other domestic results.3. The score about life quality of emergency nurses was lower than the norm. Their life quality was poorer.4. The relation between lifestyle and job stress of emergency nurses was negatively correlated, which showed the job stress of emergency nurses is lower when their lifestyle is health; The relation between lifestyle and life quality of emergency nurses was clearly positively correlated, which showed the life quality of emergency nurses will be better and better with the health degree of the lifestyle; The relation between quality of life and job stress of emergency nurses was an obvious negative correlation.The greater the job stress,the lower the quality of their lives.
