Objective:This study will explore the status quo of job stress, quality of life, turnover intention, of nurses in tertiary hospital intensive care; Job stress and its relationship with the quality of life and turnover intention of nurses in ICU. The mediating effect of quality of life in the relation between job stress and turnover intention.Methods:241 ICU nurses were extracted using the convenience sampling method from 3 tertiary hospitals at the provincial level in Jinan. The questionnairs included four part:basic information, Nursing Job Stressor Inventory, the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-BREF, Turnover Intention Scale. We input and analyzed the date by SPSS 22.0. Descriptive analysis, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used. Results:A total of 260 questionnaires were distributed and 241 valid, the effective rate was 92.7%.(1) The total score of ICU nurses’job stressor was (76.02±20.66) professional and career issues (15.76±4.87), workload and time pressure (11.92±3.81),patient care (25.48±7.17), resource and environmental problems (6.27±2.52), management and interpersonal (16.60±6.15).The total score of quality of life (74.94±8.18) physical health (21.79±2.78) psychological health (18.96±2.35), social relationship (10.52±1.55),environment (23.67±4.68).The total score of turnover intention (14.63±2.91) turnover intention Ⅰ (4.48±1.37) turnover intention Ⅱ (4.44±1.43) turnover intention Ⅲ (5.71±0.99)(2) Highest degree, different psychological domain score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Different titles, leaving intend Ⅲ, environmental field, turnover intention, total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Different labor relations, leaving intend I, nursing, and work, management and interpersonal aspects, environmental, physical field, the quality of life scores, turnover intention total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Different marital status, willingness to leave I, social, physical, quality of life scores, turnover intention total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Different position, leaving intend I, turnover intention total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Presence of night shift, leaving intend Ⅲ turnover intention total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Different monthly income, and willingness to leave I intend II, management and interpersonal aspects, turnover intention total score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05). Post grades, different social areas, physiological score difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05).(3) The bivariate Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the nurses job stress was negatively correlated with the quality of life (r=-0.360, P<0.05), Turnover intention was positively correlated with the job stress of the nurses in the total score and the scores of each dimension, Turnover intention was correlated negatively with quality of life score and each dimension score was negatively correlated (r=0.280,-0.220, P <0.05).(4) The nurses job stress as independent variables, the quality of life as the dependent variable, job stress can be significantly negative to predict the quality of life, and explain the change of the quality of life 13%. Job stress can significantly positively predict turnover intention,R2=0.078.(5) The job stress and quality of life were independent variables, and turnover intention was dependent variable, and the standard partial regression coefficient ranging from 0.280 to 0.231, the difference was statistically significant. The R2=0.095, and the quality of life played an intermediary role between job stress and turnover intention.(6) The job stress was the independent variable, the turnover intention was the dependent variable, and the standard partial regression coefficient ranging from 0.199 to 0.280, and there was significant difference between the environment and the job stress and turnover intention (P< 0.01).Conclusions:(1) 241 ICU nurse’s working pressure is high, turnover intention, quality of life were in the medium level.(2) Job stress and quality of life were significantly negative correlation, job stress and turnover intention was positively related.(3) The job stress of nurses can positively predict the turnover intention, and the work pressure of the nurses can negatively predict the quality of life.(4) The quality of life partially mediates the relationship between job stress and turnover intention.
