Objective:In order to provide a theoretical basis on improvement of emergency nurses’life quality, Investigation on their life quality, social support, mental health status and influence factors in Department of Emergency of three grade general hospitals from Changsha urban was conducted, and Association of nurses’ quality of life with social support, Mental Health was Discussed in Emergency nurses.Method:Questionnaire investigation for nurses from Department of emergency in16three-grade general hospital was performed by using convenience sampling from2012November to2013January. The research object included540nurses in accordance with the inclusion criteria from department of emergency, The actual effective questionnaire included468emergency nurses after excluding invalid questionnaire. Survey tools contained WHO quality of life scale (WHOQOL-BREF), symptom checklist(SCL-90) and social support revalued scale from Xiao Shui-yuan(SRSS). SPSS13statistical software was applied for statistical analysis. Statistical methods included analysis of descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Pearson correlation analysis and Ordinal logistic regression.Results:1. Emergency department nurses’ quality of life aggregate score was57.52±14, demographic characteristic factors affecting the quality of life were gender and the night shift frequency.2. Emergency department nurses social support aggregate score was31.85±8.80, the demographic characteristics factors affecting social support were gender, age, title, position, relationship, income, diploma, night shift frequency.3. Emergency nurse SCL-90scores were146.35±50.05, the positive rate was28.41%, demographic characteristic factors affecting mental health of nurses in emergency department were professional title, qualifications and the night shift frequency.4.Emergency nurse’s quality of life and social support was positively correlated (r=0.411, P<0.05); emergency department nurses’ quality of life was negatively related to SCL-90score (r=-0.513, P<0.05); social support was negatively related to SCL-90score (r=-0.263, P<0.05).5. Multiple regression analysis results showed that social support and mental health affected the nurses’quality of life in Department of emergency.Conclusion:1. Low living quality of nurses existed in the emergency department, and the life quality of female nurse were better than the quality of life of male nurses, life quality of day shift nurses were better than life quality of night-shift nurses.2. social support for nurses in department of Emergency is not enough, the male nurse’s social support was lower than the female nurses; social support of~20age nurses group was lower than that with41~years old nurses group. social support of contract nurses was lower than social support of the official marshalling nurse; social support of general nurse group was lower than nurse group; social support of less than4000yuan income per month groups was lower than more than4000yuan income per month group; social support of the night nurse group was lower than day shift nurses group.3. The mental health status of twenty-nine point four nine percent nurses in the department of emergency probably poor, the mental health status of nurses is better than primary nurse; psychological health status of polytechnic medical school group was better than undergraduate or above group; mental health status of day shift nurses group was better than the night shift nurses group.4. Good social support is favorable for the mental health of nurses, and enhance nurses’ life quality; inferior social support hurt nurses mental health, reduce the level of nurses’ quality of life. good physical and mental health could help nurses to obtain more social support and improve their quality of life; the bad health of body and mind will hinder the nurse to get more social support and reduce nurses’ quality of life.5.Social support and mental health are two major factors that affect the quality of life of emergency nurses, and mental health affect the life quality of nurses more.
