The Current Status Of Quality Of Working Life And Correlation With Resilience Among Nurses In Emergency Department

ObjectiveTo comprehend the current status of nurse quality of working life in emergency department To provide evidence for nursing managers to improve nurse quality of working life,we analyzed and explored influencing factors of nurse quality of working life,and analyze selectively the correlation between quality of working life and resilience.MethodsA total of 220 emergency nurses from 5 tertiary general hospitals in Xuzhou and 2 tertiary hospitals in Nanjing were recruited and investigated by the general information questionnaire of nurses in emergency department,Work Quality of Life Scale and Resilience Scale by convenience sampling.Statistical analysis was done by SPSS 20.0 software.Descriptive statistical analysis were done by average vs standard Deviation,frequency and composition.T-test or analysis of variance was used to compare scores of different demographic characteristics;Independent samples T-test was used to compare scores between nurse quality of working life and resilience;The correlation between the total and the dimensions of nurse quality of working life and the total and the dimensions of resilience was adopted by Pearson correlation analysis,and the influencing factors of quality of working life was analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis.Results1.The average entry score of quality of working life of emergency nurses was2.90±0.46,was lower than the average level.The average entry score of working conditions was 2.79±0.68,the average entry score of stress at work was 1.80±0.66,lower than the average level(3).The scores of seven dimensions from high to low were control at work?job career satisfaction?general well-being?home work interface?employee engagement?working conditions?stress at work.The score of resilience was 54.98±12.10,the scores of three dimensions from high to low were goal?tenacity?adaptation.2.There were statistical difference in the scores of quality of working life of emergency nurses among different gender?age?marriage condition?emergency working life?workplace violence and workplace stress.3.Emergency working life and resilience could account for 40.6%of the variation in quality of working life of emergency nurses in all.4.There were positive correlation in the scores between the total and three dimensions(tenacity?goal?adaptation)of resilience and the total?control at work?job career satisfaction?general well-being?home work interface?employee engagement?working conditions of quality of working life and differences were statistically significant(P<0.01);Conclusions1.The level of quality of working life of emergency nurses was lower than the average level,and the level of resilience of emergency nurses was lower than the average level.2.There were statistical difference in the scores of quality of working life of emergency nurses among different gender?age?marriage condition?emergency working life?workplace violence and workplace stress.Emergency working life and resilience were predictive factors and influencing factors of quality of working life of emergency nurses.3.There were positive correlation in the scores between the total and three dimensions Genacity?goal?adaptation)of resilience and the total?control at work?job career satisfaction?general well-being?home work interface?employee engagement?working conditions of quality of working life.
