Objectives:To survey the current situation of dental caries and periodontal disease of Kazaks and Uygurs in Urumqi and the absorbing of nutritional elements;to analyze the relationship between such diseases and the nutritional elements; to make a comparative study on the factors resulting in the two diseases of the two nationalities; and to research the practical ways to prevent such diseases. Methods:By using integral sampling,in atransverse way, a survey was made in Gangou village of Urumqi County where 310 permanent Kazak herdsmen were living and in Anningqu town where 110 permanent Uygur farmers were living. The dental caries and periodontal disease of the two nationalities in these two places were studied respectively, their body build index were measured, and questionnaires about diet structure and other relevant factors were conducted, the nutritional biochemical index were measured too. Results:①The Kazak herdsmens's income was lower than the Uygur Farmers, rate of fatness and rate of overweight were higher than those of the Uygur Farmers.②The rate of Kazak herdsmen's suffering from dental caries was 50.32%,which was lower than the result of the 3rd national survey of oral epidemic diseases(The average national rate of the dental caries suffering is 88.1%).The rate of their suffering from periodontal disease was 21.29%. As for Uygurs, their rate of suffering from dental caries was 31.81%, and periodontal disease was 26.36%.Therefore, the rate of Kazaks'suffering from dental caries was higher than that of Uygurs, whose discrepancy had statistical significance(p<0.05), and the degree of severity of Kazaks' suffering from dental caries was also higher than Uygurs.③Nutritional elements:The Kazak patients who suffer from dental caries and periodontal disease were lacking in the absorbing of vitamin A and vitamin E. As for inorganic salt, the absorbing of calcium and cuprum was far away from the supply standard. The Uygur patients suffering from dental caries and periodontal disease were lacking in the absorbance of vitamin A, lactoflavin, vitamin C, calcium and zinc. So the absorbing amount of Kazak patients in vitamin A, lactoflavin, vitamin E and magmesium was less than Uygur patients, while their absorbing amount in calcium and phosphorus was more than Uygur patients. Such discrepancy has statistical significance (p<0.05).④there was no statistical significance between the periodontal disease groups and the normal in Serum lipid difference in Kazaks and Uygur.⑤By using the method of Logistic Regression Analysis, it was showed that the relevant factors resulting in Kazaks' suffering from dental caries included gender, chewing habit and the pH of value and the factors of periodontal disease were smoking and BMI. In comparison, the relevent factors causing Uygurs' dental caries are the pH of value and tartar, while periodontal disease were gender and smoking. Conclusions:①The dental caries and periodontal disease of Kazaks and Uygurs were influenced by different kinds of reasons, in which diet nutrition shouldn't be ignored. Therefore, in order to lower the possibility of their suffering from overweight and fatness and to balance the blood fat, we need to spread the idea of healthy diet in the public and recommend the reasonable diet structural model.②We need to carry out oral health education, stop smoking and refrain from drinking, strengthen the training to the local medical staffs, which are of great significance to the prevention of dental caries and periodontal disease.
