Objective: To investigate the degree of job satisfaction, job involvement, andorganizational commitment in a hospital staff in Changsha and to systematicallyanalyze the related factors influencing the conditions above, then to fred out thepsychological and behavioral needs of the staff. We aim to provide some reliableevidence and related suggestions, accordingly, the management level and serviceefficiency could be improved and better medical services could be served to thepatients.Methods: The subjects came from a Class-three-Grade-A hospital staff inChangsha. We randomly selected 1000 employees to carry out the questionnaire. TheMinnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) was referred in the investigation. Weused SPSS 11.0 software to do the descriptive statistics and single-factor analysis.Results: The degree of employment satisfaction was higher in male staff than infemale; and higher in chiefs than those who are not; and in unmarried than in marriedstaff; and in contract engaged than in official staff; and in administration andmanagement staff than in medical and logistical staff; and in those holdling aMaster's degree or higher than in those who do not. Those with a Bachelor's degreehad the least employment satisfaction. In terms of income, those having the incomeless than 2500 yuan per month had higher job satisfaction than those whose incomewas 2500-4000 yuan per month or higher.Conclusion: The degree of job satisfaction is different significantly in staff withdifferent sex, marital status, position and occupation. Those with different age, workage, income status and education status had no difference on the overall score, butvaried in certain aspects. The major factors influencing the degree of job satisfactionare workload, income, management efficiency, work security guarantee, personaldevelopment prospective, work performance consent and harmonious interpersonalrelationship. As for improving the degree of job satisfaction, we should think highly of these factors and pay attention to difference of different population. So we shouldpay close attention to the job satisfaction, meanwhile, the working achievementsatisfaction and social satisfaction should also be taken into consideration. The degreeof job satisfaction could influence the working behavior and work performance, sothe investigation would assist the hospital to have initiative and loyal employees andhave conspicuously promoting effects on management and work efficiency.Suggestions: The administrators of the hospital should emphasize on setting anexample with authority and honesty, provide harmonious, comfortable anddemocratic atmosphere for the staff, construct the community which has consistentgoals and profits, enhance cultivation and training of the talent men by planning,design occupational career for the staff, and encourage work activeness of the staff. Ifso, the loyal and initiative employees would be got.
