OBJECTIVE To explore the influence of life events ,coping style and personality in the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM), and hope to provide the referenced evidence how to put in practice integrative measure including psychosocial support to the type 2 diabetes mellitus sensitive person and early suffer.METHODS DM group:31 type 2 diabetes mellitus cases, all are our hospital patient, male 14, female 17, age: 51.78 ± 5.40, BMI: 24.18 ± 3.3kg/m~2, suffering time less than one year. Disease Control group: choose 33 hospitalized cases without type 2 diabetes mellitus cases who match with the type 2 diabetes mellitus patient in the age, sex, body mass index(BMI), education and occupation. Health Control group: 32 healthy volunteer in our hospital health examination center or family numbers of the patients., other data same with disease control group. All the objects must have no diabetes mellitus and psychosis history, have no other - physical diseases(adopting the tenth edition of International Classification of Diseases as diagnostic standard ), have no mental diseases, brain diseases and serious hepatic- nephric function abnormity. The research used the all-pervading consolidated questionnaire, including Life Event Scale, Social Support Measurement Scale, Character Coping Style Questionnaire and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. With the uniform guidance ,the filling methods, the help of experimentalist, made three groups objects finish the scales. Professional carried through the scale and statistical analysis. ① compare the difference of psychosocial factors among three groups, ②seriate all the objects and group with life events annual mental tension total value. High life events group(life events total value ≥16) 24 cases, Low life events group(life events total value≤6) 25 cases. Compare the difference ofthe prevalence rate of T2DM between the two groups. ? seriate all objects with the life events scale, and title relatively high life events group(scale^ll). Compare the difference between the DM group and non-DM group in the relatively high life events group. (4)made linear correlation with the negative life events, negative coping style, EPQ-E, EPQ-N and objective support scale in T2DM group. RESULTS1. Comparing three group, the life events scale, especially the negative life events scale are distinctly higher than control group, the difference have statistical significance. But the difference have no statistical significance in social support, coping style and personality.2. The prevalence rate of T2DM of high life events are significant higher than the low life events group.3. In the relatively high life events group, showed significant difference in social support, coping style, personality between the diabetes group and non- diabetes group.4. The results of psychosocial factors correlative analysis show the negative correlation between negative coping style and EPQ-E and objective support, but show the positive correlation between EPQ-E and objective support in the T2DM patients.CONCLUSION1. Negative life events have important influence on the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus, through the life events scores among the diabetes mellitus group, control hospitalized group and healthy people group, also through the contrast of the diabetes mellitus prevalence rate between the high life events group and the low life events group. It's consistent with the conclusions of many specialists and scholars.2. Showed no significant difference in social support, coping style, personalities among three groups. But in the contrast between the diabetes mellitus sub-group and control group within the high life events group, we can find the type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers took more negative coping styles, less objective support and utilization of the supports, and showed the introversion in personality and emotion instability. So these psychosocial factors as social supports, coping style, personality have no decisive effects on the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus, but are very important when a person encounter many stress events. These factors, the low negative coping styles, the better objective support and utilization of the supports and the extroversion in personality and emotion stability, can bring into play positive effects on the precaution of the onset oftype 2 diabetes mellitus when they are in the stress events. So we consider that providing the sensitive person (especially when they encounter many life events) with diabetes mellitus psychosocial supports is one of the important method to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus.3. The results of psychosocial factors correlative analysis show the negative correlation between negative coping style and EPQ-E and objective support, but show the positive correlation between EPQ-E and objective support in the T2DM patients. So introversive individual take more negative coping style, and that they acquire less objective support and less utilization of the supports. So we can conclude that the introversive personality, less social support and more negative coping style always are interactional and coinstantaneous. If all these factors act on one individual, the individual become T2DM sensitive person.
