Objective: In modern days, stress is one of the universal medical psychological problems. Excessive stress will cause fatigue, anxiety, suppression, the decline of working efficiency, even psychosomatic diseases. With the develop of medicine, people pay more and more attention to the research of occupational orthopsychiatry. Doctor and nurse have been regarded as the occupation with high stress. Doctor and nurse take a large proportion of the people abroad who go to see the psychological doctors. Occupational stress affect the psychosomatic health of doctor and nurse greatly, and we should pay more attention to it. The research about the occupational stress of doctor and nurse and the strategies to relieve it will be benefit to the psychosomatic health of doctor and nurse, and make them work with healthy mentality. In this research, we evaluate the occupational stress by investigation, analysis the main effective factors of it, and find the corresponding strategies to relieve it.Method: We questioned the staff of one middle-sized hospital in Tai Yuan, and divided them into three groups: the clinician and nurse clinician, the doctor and nurse in assistant departments, others. They are questioned by three inventories: Occupational Stress Inventory (Revised) (OSI-R), Type A Behavior Pattern (TABP), self-made inventory about individual information. Data was analyzed with SPSS 10.0 statistic software.Results: First, evaluated the internal consistent reliability of the inventories (OSI-R and TABP) by Cronbach αcoefficient, and the result show they all have good internal consistent. The clinician and nurse clinician fight on the front-line of medicine, and their work is special, so we pay more attention to them in this research. In comparison with the other two groups, the clinician and nurse clinician have more occupational role and responsibility, and their stress reaction is obvious. The research also shows that positive coping styles are benefit to relieve the occupational strain, and people with Type A Behavior Pattern have more stress and strain than those with Type B Behavior Pattern. We also found that the main effective factors of occupational strain are occupational role, coping styles, Type A Behavior Pattern, age, gender, worktime etc.Conclusion: The clinician and nurse clinician are facing more occupational stress and strain, and it has influenced their psychosomatic health. It is associated with not only the peculiarity of their occupation but also their coping styles and personality. So both the leaders and staff in the hospital should take some measures in occupational role, coping styles, and personality to relieve their occupational stress and strain.
