The Study Of Relation Between Nurse Occupational Stress And The Blood Cortisol

Objectives: 1. To explore the influenced factors of job stress in Chinese nurses. 2.To test the relationship between the job stress and serum cortisol of nurses. 3.Studying the response to nurses' stress ,improving the index of response to prevent body from injure. 4. Mastering regularity of the job stress in Chinese nurses to provide scientific basis for interrupting the job stress in Chinese nurses.Methods: This cross-sectional and experimental designed study used a random-cluster method to recruit 104 qualified nurses of eight wards from twenty-three wards in a traditional Chinese medical hospital. Participants were asked to fill out a series of questionnaires assessing nursing job stressor,trait coping styles , self-rating depression, self-rating anxiety and measure their serum crosiltol.. The data were analysed with Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS)13.0,the statistic description,one sample t-test,analysis of variance (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis H test,correlations,stepwise regressions.Rusult:1. The major job stressors of nurses are related with nature of nursing work and the work load. 2. The serum cortisol of 104 recruited nurses is higher than normal pepole's. 3.Nurses' job stressor,postive coping style,passive coping style,depreesion,anxiety, serum cortisol were conducted by analysis of variance (ANOVA)with different working sections,age, working years,culture degrees,marriage,working nature and technical ranks, it showed that job stressor in nurses has been influenced by different working sections, different culture degrees. Different culture degrees have influence on passive coping styles. Depreesion in nurses has been influenced by different working sections. Anxiety in nurses has been influenced by different age, different working years, different marriage and different working natures. 4.The job stressor in nurses is positive linear correlation with the passive coping style, depreesion,anxiety, serum cortisol. The nurser postive coping style is passtive linear correlation with the depreesion,anxiety. The nurser serum cortisol is positive linear correlation with the depreesion. 5. Nurser job stressor was conducted by analysis of stepwise regressions, it showed that working sections, passive coping style and serum cortisol was brought into regression equation. Nurser passive coping style was conducted by Analysis of stepwise regressions , it showed that the job stressor, depreesion, working sections were brought into regression equation. Nurser serum cortisol was conducted by Analysis of stepwise regressions, it showed that nurser job stressor was brought into regression equation. Nurser depreesion was conducted by Analysis of stepwise regressions,it showed that anxiety, postive coping style, working sections,serum cortisol was brought into regression equation.Conclusion : 1. The major job stressors of nurses are related with nature of nursing work and the work load. 2.Job stressor in nurses has been influenced by different working sections, different culture degrees. Different culture degrees have influence on passive coping styles. Depreesion in nurses has been influenced by different working sections. Anxiety in nurses has been influenced by different age, different working years, different marriage and different working nature. 3.The job stressor in nurses is positive linear correlation with the passive coping style, depreesion,anxiety. 4.The serum cortisol in nurses is positive linear correlation with the job stressor and depreesion.
