The Overhead Crane play a key role in the national economy priduction, it is significant to increasing the design ability. Parametic design integrates the dimension parameters and other design parameters of the product, it realizes automatic and intelligentize design, it is convenient for product model dynamic altering, and some effective methods have been provided for alterable, reused and paralleled design. Acoording to the survey, the study of parametic design is limited to theory and feasibility experiment currently, and the method has some limitation, the parametic design system which has better practicability is scarce. Aiming at current situation, an integrated parametic design system for mechanical products is necessary for conforming to industry requirement, increasing design efficiency and market competitive strength.The technology of parametic design for Overhead Crane has been studied in this paper, Access has been applicated for the data of product, and parametic design system for Overhead Crane has been developed by object-oriented and VB.NET. The type and the check method of steel structure of main girder and end girder have been analyzed. Through researching parametic technology currently, aiming at the limitations, a method which the procedures complete adopted has been used for modeling in this paper, and the technology of COM, ActiveX have been applicated. Through SolidWorks API module and interrelated files transfered, SolidWorks can be transferred and driven by the terrace. SolidWorks API function has been researched, through programming and PartDoc object, 3D modle can be generated automaticly. Through standard plane superposited and AssemblyDoc object, it relizes assemble automaticly. Access has been used in this paper for data supporting, the data can be transmited by ADO.NET.This system relizes parametic design for Overhead Crane, it terrace reduces repetitive work, cuts down the design period, and the paramatic design techonology applicatied in this paper provides a new method and gathers experience for the study of parametic design technology.
