Digital Elevation Model and the principles and methods of Geo-science Analysis are the core contents in GIS, which is remarkable sign of the progress of Geographic Information Analysis Technology in the past 20 years.DEM can extract terrain factors automatically,Spatial Analysis by using it has many characteristics,for example the fast,scientific and objective. The field practical observation in traditional work, which is very complicated,difficult and time-consuming, can be partially replaced by that.It has a good application prospect on Digital Forestry. This study relies on the "digital forestry in Chifeng",which has been finished in the year of 2005 by The Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The county of Linxi where is in city of Chifeng of Inner Mongolia Region as a study area,by using the ArcGIS9.3.1 and it's expansion module of 3D and Spatial Analysis,DEM with high precision and a series of terrain factors has been established and extracted,the distribution proportion and characteristics of each class of gradient of terrain factors(elevation,slope,aspect) in forest dominat species in the study area are calculated and discussed,and on that basis, a model of spatial variation of the forest has been built.Meanwhile,using three-dimensional perspective of forest form to expresse the topographic distribution of forest. The results showed that:the adaptability of each dominant tree specie on different terrain is different.The slope affects the distribution of tree species on site condition,most species can growth in a region of gentler gradient, and some species in the area where is large slope also have very strong vitality, the competitive capacity of tree species in different conditions of terrain has been different,which result to its different distribution.The influence of elevation and aspect has been significant,and its various combinations reflected condions of illumination and moisture which affected these species distribution.As a renewable resource,forest is not only an important resource for social and economic development,but also the important environment that people live. Due to the lack of communication channels of information between departments and units,the imperfect of existing technology equipment and information-sharing mechanism has caused the inventory results of forest resource not be used.So Linxi county as a study area and the platform bases on ArcGIS Server9.3.1,i created Forest Resources Network Management Information System which is on Browser/Server structure by using the lateset API Technology of The ESRI—ArcGIS Server API for Flex connects the clients and the Server, to achieve the sharing, effective use and virtuous circle of forestry data and resource in Linxi,publish the inventory results of forest and the information of Geo-science Analysis in network environment.The system provides a scientific evidence for all levels of government and relevant management decisions,and improves the management of forest resource comprehensively.
