At present, in the teaching of electromagnetics in college physics of engineering course, there exists an awkward situation that this subject is very difficult to learn and teach, and that quite a few students are afraid of learning it, and therefore making it difficult to achieve the expected goals and actualizing its double educational value, which has aroused the close attention of large quantities of college physics teachers. Thereby, the reform of the teaching of electromagnetics in college physics is both most urgent and significant. The present thesis not only investigates and analyses the present situation of teaching and learning electromagnetics in college physics and its curriculum characteristics, but also makes a thorough and systematic discussion on the teaching objectives, teaching ideas, teaching contents, teaching models, and teaching methods of electromagnetics in college physics.The whole thesis is divided into seven parts. The first part (introduction) gives a brief statement of the background, the development, the goals and significance of the research task. The second part analyses, through demonstrational survey, the situation and the existing problems in the reform of electromagnetics teaching, then the necessity of reform and the contents of reform are educed. The theoretical basis of the reform of teaching electromagnetics is expatiated in the third part. And from Part Four to Part Six, dissertation is given to the reform of teaching ideas, teaching contents, teaching models, and teaching methods of electromagnetics in college physics. The teaching ideas are also discussed that "priority is given to students and learning instead of to teachers and teaching materials" and that "overall harmonious quality education takes the place of simple knowledge education". The teaching of electromagnetics is reformed by reinforcing the contents of physics history and combining the knowledge of electricity and magnetism, and then the teaching method of "teaching electromagnetics in the way of creating configuration" is put forward. A further discussion and teaching practice are also contributed to the research teaching of electromagnetics in college physics in the three parts. The last part is the conclusion.
