To suit the needs of cultivating the talents in the 21st century, the paper examines the existing teaching system of college physical experiment. On the basis of widely reading and research about Chinese-foreign physics experience teaching and their teaching reform, the author points out the importance of changing education ideas and constructing teaching material, studies the problems of modernity of teaching contents and method. With the both purposes of stressing foundation and developing ability, some teaching patterns are discussed, which will benefit the development of students'body and mind, and which will arouse students'initiative and creativity. Some extending contents and special subjects of college physical experiment are analyzed, and it is pointed out that fair examining system with multifarious exam goal should be found.Considering the problem of cultivating the creativity of students, the author also discusses the education function of physics experiment, emphasizes that the traditional basic knowledge is root, scientific practice is body, and independent innovation is soul.Teaching reform is a long-term system engineering which will be constantly deepened, and that must be combined theory with practice. Teachers are the main bearers, who must have idea of studying for life and insist the way of teaching as well as scientific research. It is significant for promoting teaching reform to develop permanently and improving the quality of personnel training.
