The reform and construction of the content system of teaching materials in college physics for the non-physics majors is part of the main content on the physics teaching reform in twenty one century. In 2001, after the document on the reinforcement of the undergraduate course's teaching organized by ministry of education was put into action and with the advocating of bilingual education, a series of excellent foreign teaching materials were introduced into our country, which plays an important role of reference in the construction of domestic teaching materials. On the last century, the ministry of education organized a project on the construction of teaching materials facing twenty-one century. The project produced a series of mainstream teaching materials with distinct features which reflected the teaching reform's achievement after Reform and Opening Up and embodied our country's level of development in higher education. The comparison research on the domestic and foreign mainstream teaching materials in college physics is not only a part of the research on the pedagogical theory in higher education, but also plays an important role of guidance on the construction and reform of the teaching materials in college physics in the future. The literatures in this aspect are not too many by now. Based on the collected several sets of Chinese and American teaching Materials in College Physics, this thesis had a comparison between them in detail ,which includes content system, print and physical make-up examples and exercises, physical concept, the way of introducing physical history, teaching ideas etc. This thesis also compared them on the five branches of physics which are Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Wave Optics Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics from different sides. Based on the comparison, this thesis Summarized their each strong points and defects and pointed that the domestic teaching materials did made a bold and effective attempt on utilizing the strong points of foreign teaching materials. Many features of foreign teaching materials are reflected in our teaching materials. The teaching staff in our country also made a bold exploration and a notable achievement on the modernization of General Physics and making the Modern Physics to be in the style of General Physics and our mainstream teaching materials in college physics also had something that was worth utilizing by foreign partners. The author also put forward some thoughts on the reform orientation of the college teaching materials and the issue on thereflection of service for students.
