With the social development and expansion of talents' demands, especially for heavy demands of practical talents in the first front of production, building, management and service, higher vocational education is booming. From an international perspective, the status of higher vocational education institutions not only has been established, but also higher vocational education institutions have won social acknowledgements and welcome with their bright school characteristics day by day. It becomes an integral part of structures of higher education system in different countries.After the establishment of People's Republic of China, based on the technical talents'urgent demand for the large-scale economic development, higher vocational education in our country develops rapidly, especially entering the new century, the development of higher vocational educatioh in our country has welcomed a new upsurge. The 16th National Congress of Communist Party of China(16th NCCPC) in 2002 proposed, "To build up billions of high quality laborers, specialized talents and batches of top-notch innovative talents." In November, 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao presented: We must view higher vocational educationas as the important basis of economic social development and strategic focus of educational work, develops vigorously higher vocational education with Chinese characteristics. Because higher vocational education in our country only has over ten-year history, there are great differences between higher vocational education and ordinary higher education. Their essential differences are: higher vocational education is to cultivate practical, skilled and technologiical talents who have theoretical level of college education and strong practical abilities as well as serve for the first front of production, building, management and service. And it is to implement vocational and technical education which contain theoretical knowledge of higher education and advanced technical skills. However, with the development of society and higher demands for talents, the outdated teaching materials are out of touch with actual demands, and even unable to suit the talents' needs for social development. Nevertheless, mathematics is a very important basic subject which provides common use for various subjects and has an important effect on cultivation for the student work and their thinking quality. Meanwhile, the mathematics basic status is of decisive role to mathematics in natural science, social sciences, the field of engineering techniques and other subjects.The current teaching materials of higher vocational mathematics have such problems: Some materials locate simply in polytechnic level or make an extension in certain form; Some materials directly copy the traditional content of "Gaozhuan" or some are only copies of the forms and patterns in "Gaozhuan" teaching materials. So the current teaching materials of higher vocational mathemtics only cancel the difficult part, the theoretical derivation and the proof, lower the theoretical request. Specifically speaking, for example, the current teaching materials lack higher vocational characteristics; the content is removed from the reality and not pointed; the architecture has long gone out of date; the teaching skills and methods lie insufficiently in the current teaching materials; practical teaching materials are severely lacked and so on. So this paper states the principles and the methods of teaching-material compilation in teaching materials of higher vocational mathematics, and puts forwards some correlative reform countemeasures in such aspects: the requirements of social development and higher vocational education; the function of higher vocational education; the function of higher vocational mathematics education; the history of Calculus; Mathematic sapplication and new features of mathematics experiment for higher vocational education requirements; the present situation of higher vocational students; the comparison and research on related higher vocational calculus teaching materials both at home and abroad and so on.Firstly, the higher vocational teaching-material compilation should reflect the higher vocational features, that is to say, the teaching-material compilation should take the students as the main bodies, and center around the competence development of analyzing and solving actual problems. It also stresses the combination of theory with practice, and integrates the public basic courses, the specialized fundamental courses, the professional courses and the elective courses organically in training plan of higher vocational education, and make them more purposefully and practical. Secondly, as for the professional courses, the teaching-material compilation should embody "must, sufficiency" in theoretical teaching. It emphasizes "utility, and moderation"; in practice teaching, we should take "technical application" as the primary intention, and reduce the qualitative and quantitative analysis and the pure speculative content. We also should increases the examples, the cases, the content of field analysis and problem solving:â‘ The introduction of the concept should be easily accepted by students through the production and life examples. Because helping students establish mathematics concept and conclusion is more difficult than deriving the conclusion.â‘¡The theorematic proof should avoid the strong logical derivation as far as possible.â‘¢Cancel the mathematics content which has nothing to do with the professional course and so on.
