As one of the main foundational courses in higher vocationalcolleges and a kind of precise scientific language used by many subjects,higher mathematics plays an important part in students' study of theirsubsequence curriculums and the development of their thinking quality.But many problems exist in the teaching content and the curricularsystem of traditional higher mathematics. So it is necessary for us tolucubrate the reform of the teaching content and the curricular system ofhigher mathematics in higher vocational education so as to achieve theobjective of higher vocational education to develop applied talents.In the base of the basic theories on the research of mathematicalteaching this paper analyses the task and the characteristics of highermathematical teaching in higher vocational education, lucubrates anddemonstrates the relation in four aspects, such as the innovation in thefoundation of mathematical teaching, tradition and modem times, theoryand application and learning and teaching, and it also establishes theirharmonious dialectical unified relation on the consciousness of teachingand research. The author analyses and surveys the reform of the teachingcontent and the teaching methods of higher mathematical education inhigher vocational colleges in the way of spot check, having an informaldiscussion and survey by questionnaire so as to reveal the mainproblems that occur in higher mathematical education in highervocational colleges. Then the author analyses the aspects that should bepay attention to in the reform, and finally gives constructive advice onthe way and strategy to reform higher mathematical curriculum in higher vocational colleges.The research of the problem is in the aim of reforming the teachingcontent and the teaching methods of higher mathematical curriculum inhigher vocational colleges and trying forming the new curricular systemand the new teaching methods. Hence the research has practical andtheoretical significance in solving the problems that occur in highermathematical education in higher vocational colleges to a certain extentand it is also valuable for the reference of the future study.
