The style of people's lives and learning has been greatly changed by the knowledge economy, information technology and globalization era. The reposition of training model in universities has become a need for training the compound and high-quality talents with innovative spirit and practical ability. The special talents trained by the sectional system of art and science in traditional education have been unable to cope with the demands of society. In order to build up the talent training model for keeping abreast of the times demands, many colleges and universities have carried out education reform, so the General Education for liberal arts students is appeared. However, the General Education in colleges and universities in China is only at the preliminary developing stage, as the lack of theoretical knowledge and practical experience,some problems is inevitably emerged in the implementation process, so it has become the top priority to search for an effective teaching methods or teaching model to solve the problems and promote the development of General Education.The teaching model of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), training the hands-on ability, problem-solving ability, and collaborative learning ability, has become an effective methods for teachers operating the General Education to liberal arts students.In this paper, the existent problems have been analyzed in the college physical exploration experiment to liberal arts students. While based on the deep research of PBL and combined practice, the PBL teaching model adapting for the characteristics of liberal arts students has been constructed, empirical researched and evaluated. The theoretical foundation of PBL teaching model and the three major factors including the problem, students and teachers have also been deeply investigated; combined the cognitive characteristics of liberal arts students, the arrangement of problems for the physical exploration experiment has been expounded; combined the characteristics of teaching objects and contents, the processes of PBL teaching model have been perfected, the task of teachers and students in different stages has been expounded in detail; through the teaching practice, the operation processes of PBL teaching model and the actual effectiveness have been researched. In aspect of promoting the formation of learning motivation in interdisciplinary learning for liberal arts students, developing the hands-on ability ,problem-solving ability, cooperative spirit ability, innovation and self-study ability, improving the information literacy, these positive effects of this model has been proved in practices ,some theoretical foundation and practical references are provided for developing the teaching practice of experiment courses in colleges and universities.
