The Scientific Spirit Of News Commentary

This research mainly aims to investigate the performance and problems in the developing process of news commentary,based on the concept of “scientific spirit”.Through literature review and empirical investigation,the author put forward the scientific spirit of news commentary two core content: True and Logic.With " scientific spirit of news commentary" as the starting point,this proposition thesis tries to construct on the basic theoretical system of news commentary about the fundamental principles,norms and values,provide new theoretical basis for the study of the news commentary.With "news comment on the scientific spirit" as the starting point,this proposition thesis tries to construct on the fundamental principles of journalism review,the basic theoretical system of norms and values,for the study of the news comments provide new theoretical basis.In the perception of theories of communication sociology,this study explores the history of scientific spirit,as well as the discourse of texts of news commentary.By adopting the methods of "analysis of progress and incident",depth interview,text analysis,fieldwork and ethnography,the study also probes the text discourse of news commentary and commentators' cognition of scientific spirit.Furthermore,the scientific spirit during the process of commentaries is analyzed either.There are innovations and values in theoretic perspective and methodology.Structures of this dissertation contain theoretical construction,historical construction and construction of qualitative approach,following the procedure from theory to experience,and vice verse.The first chapter is an introduction,including the introduction of research backgrounds,research questions,significance of the research,reviews of relative researches,core concepts,research perspectives,methodologies,innovations and difficulties.Especially,the original theory of scientific spirit and fundamental concepts are sorted out,which builds the foundation of further adoption of scientific spirit in the field of news commentary research.Chapter 2 focuses on two concepts: truth and logic.The two factors are thought to be the necessary conditions of news commentary's scientific spirit,according to the literature review and observation of experience.In the third part of this research,three mainstream newspapers among three periods are chosen for studying the history of scientific spirit in news commentary,in order to find out the main factors of influence and significances of scientific spirit in news commentary.Chapter four discusses the lack of scientific spirit and its consequences in the Era of New Media,and discusses the era meaning of scientific spirit.Chapter five is based on a case study of “Beina Yao news event”.The method of analysis of progress and incident is adopted,as well as other diverse methods,such as participatory observation,virtual ethnography,text analysis,depth interview and so on.These methods help to analyze the text discourse of scientific spirit in news commentary and to reveal the cognition of scientific spirit of news commentators,In the sixth part,the Commentary Department of Beijing News is studied particularly.How commentary contributes on the scientific spirit,how scientific spirit can be cultivated,and the rules of scientific spirit,will be discussed further.The last part summarizes the fundamental principles,which should be its ideals.
