An Ontology-Based Service Framework For Telecom Product Information Integration

The development of information technology has promoted the transformation of enterprise information systems, enterprise information management is no longer confined to meet the basic business operation support requirements and gradually become the direct strength and leading force to improve enterprise competition. No product, no enterprise. The telecom company also is. Each of the China telecom company has many subsystems which are built by many IT companies. Therefore the product information and customer information distributed in them have many semantic conflicts and are also hetero-structure in many facets which significantly decrease the product information services satisfaction.This paper proposes a telecom distributed heterogeneous product information integration services framework which uses semantic web ontology research results as reference and is based on service-oriented architecture. The main works and contributions of this paper are shown as follows:(1) An ontology-based service framework for telecom product information integration is prsented.The framework vertically includes five layers. And five facets framework metadata service technology are presented to solve the heterogeneity conflict issues. And based on the unified product ontology definition model, the shared product business knowledge services could be provided in the whole enterprise angle of view. The framework function services are designed according to the SOA, and implemented via web service. It realizes the information resources semantics unification, and visit transparency in the facets of position, structure, naming and access. Framework dynamic cooperation mechanism is analyzed from four viewpoints, i.e. enterprise organizational structure, user role, static data, data change events.(2) A telecom product ontology construction method is proposed based on skeleton methodology.Skeleton methodology proposed by Uschold and Gruninger is guidance for building enterprise ontology, but is short of the detail. To reveal and share the telecom product knowledge, telecom product ontology (TPO) is initially presented via top-down analysis of telecom industry NGOSS, SID, eTOM standards, and bottom-up analysis of business support systems product information model, and analyzing the diversified domestic telecom operators' product definition. A detailed TPO building method based on skeleton methodology is proposed via synthetically analyzing the elements mapping relations between the UML and OWL, between the RDB information model and OWL. The lightweight TPO is constructed via Protege and is described by OWL DL.(3) The implementation mechanisms of the framework application level information integrating and TPO knowledge services are proposed.The framework application layer mainly includes two parts, information integrating and TPO knowledge services. The framework supports precise and fuzzy ontology knowledge searching services. They are developed via the API of Jena. Three types of precise business concept search sentence syntax are designed. The crucial framework application services are validated via a prototype system. Because only all the distributed information objects are registered to the system and mapped to the TPO in semantic, they can be shared by others. So, the semi-automatic resources semantic annotation arithmetic is studied, an integrative arithmetic which combined the naming similarity and structure similarity is proposed.(4) the framework service taxonomy, engineering and appraising methods are analyzed and proposed from SSME viewpoint.SSME (Service Science, Management & Engineering) is a cross-disciplinary research area. The requirements for modern information service tend to be more and more personalized, diversified, complicated, and on-demanded. A one-time delivery software product already can not meet customer needs. So, the new subject - SSME is required to study. This paper gives an improved formalized service definition, and the framework services are classified into four kinds. Then, an incremental SE model and a corkscrew evolving model according to service requirements explicit degree are proposed. A two level service quality evaluating method is discussed.To sum up, the framework is a novel distributed heterogeneous product information logical integrating solution. It's a new approach to solve the information semantic inconsistencies. The solution also can be applied in other domains to settle similar issue. And it can improve the information service efficiency and accuracy.
