Product configuration is a new mass production mechanism which produces large amounts of standardised products and assembles them to meet customers' personalized specifications. The efficiency of mass production and the agility of personalized production are ideally integrated by product configuration to provide quality products in short time with might and main. With internet technology and product configuration band together, enterprises deploy and find web services which contain the predominances of the enterprises on internet to get benefit from each other.Supported by the National 863/CIMS research project "ASP based integrated service and system for Internet-based Manufacturing", we developed a Semantic Web-based Product Configuration Service Management and Matchmaking System (Swpcsmms), which is especially designed for the similarity measurement of web services, services management and product configuration services matchmaking.This dissertation primarily introduces the key technology and innovative research of Swpcsmms, which mainly consists of product configuration oriented ontology architecture, similarity measurement of web services, services management, services matchmaking and search strategy.In the 1st chapter, we briefly summarize the background and connotation of the Internet-based Product Configuration System at first. After the detailed discuss of product configuration process, we put the handicap which will appear in the implementation of product configuration forward and introduce some enabling technologies.In the 2th chapter, we discuss an internet-based product configuration oriented ontology architecture which is composed of product configuration ontology, context ontology, process ontology, resource ontology, organization ontology, services Qos ontology and services security ontology. This provides a definite model and improves the pertinence of the study of internet-based product configuration.We bring forward five similarity measurements for web services matchmaking and also present several examples of using these similarity measurements in the 3th chapter. Similarity measurement is the infrastructure of web services clustering, services classification, services sorting and services matchmaking.Services clustering, services classification and services sorting are the three pivotal methods of web services management. In the 4th chapter, we introduce the architecture of the web service management module of Swpcsmms and specially discuss the application of three privotal methods to service management.At the beginning of the 5th chapter, the problems exist in web services matchmaking have been analyzed. After exploring several contemporary web services matchmaking method, we investigate into the similarity-based web services matchmaking method. At the latter end of this chapter, we introduce three search strategies for the use of finding appropriate web services in web service workflow and give an instance of the third strategy which uses dynamic programming arithmetic.In the 6th chapter, we discuss the architecture of the Swpcsmms system and put forward a-3-practical use case.In the end, all of the works in this dissertation are summed up, and their futures are prospected.
