ObjectivesThis study aims to apply curriculum theories and learning theories to construct a clinicaltraining mode focused on nursing students of professional degree, which integrateselemental components such as training objectives, training content, teaching&learningmethod, evaluation&feedback and teachers’ qualification;Also, the study uses qualitativeresearch and the Delphi method to supply and revise the mode.This clinical training modeprovides useful guidance for medical colleges in nursing education of master ’s degree.MethodsThe study contains three parts:Part I:Theoretical construction of clinical training model for nursing professional degree.This study comprehensively analysis relevant curriculum theories and learningtheories;takes the four steps of ‘objectives’,‘content’,‘organization’,and‘evaluation’ inTyler’s Objectives Model as the basis;borrows ideas from theories of Bloom’s taxonomytheory,Social Learning Theory,Humanistic Learning Theory.Last,complete theoreticalconstruction of clinical training model through literature review of master’s educationdomestically and abroad.Part II:Qualitative research on design the clinical training model.According to the principle of objective sources in Tyler’s Objectives Model,and the role ofpreceptor in Social Learning Theory, the study makes interviewed with four groups peopleincluding experts,employers,students and clinical teachers to understand the currentsituation of master’s education,screen the clinical training objectives and learn about theneeds to teach,learn and evaluate,which is the initial basis for the proposed training mode.Part III:Tentative proposal and amendment of the clinical training model.Under the guidance of the theoretical framework,referring to the results of qualitativeresearch,in accordance with principles of specific and comprehensive,targeted,andoperability, a detailed draft training mode is made.Then,the model is revised andcompleted through two rounds of consultation. Results1.Theoretical framework design of clinical training mode for professional nursing degree.The design is based on the Tyler’s Objectives Model,and how to answer four questions of itis throughout the entire process.Firstly,we select and determine the training objectivesaccording to principles of objective sources;then categorize and describe them usingBloom’s taxonomy theory; thirdly,organize and implement them under the guidance oflearning theories;finally,form assessment/evaluation methods, and the establishment ofconditions of teachers.2.Qualitative research resultsThrough interviews with four groups, the study found that the clinical training objectivesand focus for professional nursing degree is as following:professional attitude is aprerequisite for clinical practice;the ability of clinical practice and critical thinking are thecore capabilities;clinical research and education are also important,however which must beclosely integrated with practice;while clinical management is of the lowest importance inclinical practice.In designing teaching methods, timing and clinical evaluation,we should highlight thefeature of student-centered to mobilize students’ interest in learning and to promote thegreatest degree of meaningful learning.In clinical practice,the students is the subject,while mentor and clinical teachers are thedominant factor,in which all three parties must communicate adequately and agree tolearning objectives and plans,in order to achieve maximum learning outcomes.3.The clinical training mode for professional nursing degreeThis study constructs the training mode including training objectives, training content,teaching&learning method, evaluation&feedback and teachers’qualification.Amongthem,the training objectives contains29entries covering the "professional attitude","cognitive domain"and"skill areas" three aspects; training content is divided into "Basicpractice","Intensive practice" and "Specialist practice " three modules,totally35entries,and which is matched with the three areas of training objectives;teaching methods/strategies are proposed eight methods,and is set for different module;clinical evaluation includes13assessment contents covering three modules, and weight is set;teachers’qualification includes seven items.ConclusionsIn China,the education of professional nursing degree has just started,and the clinicalpractice is the focus to cultivate.This paper constructs the clinical training mode includingtraining objectives,training content,teaching&learning method,evaluation&feedback andteachers’qualification,also put out clinical training program and related proposals to carryout,which provide guidance and reference for colleges.
