| Digital wave is in the ascendant.Under the common effects of various factors, such as national policy promotion, industrial development linkage and leading enterprises driven,China’s digital economy has maintained rapid growth and quality and efficiency have improved significantly.Digital transformation is the only way for real economy to adapt to social development in the new era.As a pillar industry of China’s national economy, the manufacturing industry is now facing with the "two-way squeezing" caused by the reflux of high-end manufacturing in developed countries and the diversion of low-end manufacturing in developing countries. At the same time,it is also faced with problems such as low product profit rate and lack of vitality in growth.Throughout the global economic development situation, the development model of "digital + manufacturing" has provided a new direction for the transformation and upgrading of traditional enterprises, and digital transformation has become the inevitable choice for the manufacturing industry to achieve high-quality development. As an important approach for sustainable development, innovation is conducive to improve the market share and long-term competitive advantage of enterprises. However,at present, there is no consensus on the impact of digital transformation on innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises. Some scholars believe that digital transformation can significantly promote the improvement of innovation performance. However, another scholars hold the opposite point. Therefore,it remains to be further discussed whether digital transformation can really improve the innovation performanc e of enterprises and what the influence path is.Based on this, this thesis selects Chinese A-share manufacturing enterprises from 2011-2021 as research samples. From the perspective of resources, this thesis studies the impact of enterprises’ digital transformation on innovation performance and its influencing mechanism, respectively taking digital transformation as explanatory variable, innovation performance as explained variable, supply chain concentration degree and human capital structure as intermediary variables. The intermediary effect model is used to study the relationship between variables, and on this basis, the heterogeneity of enterprises’ micro attributes is further analyzed, and the following conclusions are drawn: first, digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises can significantly improve the innovation performance of enterprises, and can play a role in a long period of time;Second, supply chain concentration and human capital structure play an intermediary role in this process.Specifically,on the one hand, digital transformation can alleviate supply chain concentration and broaden enterprises’ access to external innovation resources, thus promoting the improvement of enterprises’ innovation performance. On the other hand, the digital transformation can optimize the internal human capital structure and then optimize the internal innovation resources so as to promote the improvement of enterprise innovation performance.Third, for enterprises with different attributes and characteristics, digital transformation has different effects on enterprise innovation performance. In terms of ownership, digital transformation has greater effects on non-state-owned enterprises’ innovation performance. In terms of different industries, digital transformation has greater innovation-driven effect on high-tech industries. Finally,Based on the research conclusions, respectively from the enterprise managers, policy makers, putting forward the corresponding suggestions for reference. The research conclusions of this thesis enrich the application of resource-based theory and resource-dependence theory to a certain extent, make up for the deficiency of the internal mechanism between the digital transformation and enterprise innovation performance of manufacturing industry, and have certain theoretical and practical value for the development of the manufacturing industry. |
