Abstract/Summary:
As a pillar industry of the national economy,manufacturing industry reflects the national creativity,competitiveness and comprehensive national strength to a great extent.In the context of the century-old changes in the world and the continuous evolution of the new round of technological and industrial revolution,the independent innovation of intermediate products in the manufacturing industry is the key to improve the resilience and safety level of China’s industrial chain and supply chain,so as to achieve high-quality development.At the same time,entering the digital era,new digital technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence gradually derived and developed rapidly,which accelerated the digital transformation of economic activities.Technological innovation and upgrading brought by digitalization brought new opportunities to promote the innovation of intermediate products in the manufacturing industry.Therefore,it is of great theoretical value and practical significance to study the influence of digital transformation on manufacturing intermediate product innovation.Based on the systematic review of relevant domestic and foreign literature,this paper firstly draws a conclusion through descriptive statistical analysis that on the whole,China’s digital transformation is booming,but there are still many problems,intermediate product imports are still heavily dependent on foreign countries,and there is still a large room for improvement in the innovation ability of intermediate products.On this basis,an input-output model of intermediate product innovation including digital transformation is constructed,and the direct impact of digital transformation on intermediate product innovation is theoretically explored.Secondly,on the basis of using the input-output table of China provided by Asian Development Bank(ADB)to estimate the innovation intensity of manufacturing intermediate products and the degree of digital transformation in 30 provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions in China,the provincial panel data of China from 2011 to 2020 were selected to empirically test the influence mechanism of digital transformation on manufacturing intermediate products innovation.The findings are as follows: first,on the whole,digital transformation can significantly promote intermediate product innovation in China’s manufacturing industry;Secondly,in terms of regional heterogeneity of digitalization effect,digital transformation has a more significant promoting effect on manufacturing intermediate product innovation in the eastern region and regions with a lower level of digital infrastructure construction.Third,from the perspective of influence mechanism,digital transformation can promote manufacturing intermediate product innovation by accelerating industrial structure upgrading and optimizing human capital structure,while financing constraints have a significant threshold effect in the process of digital transformation affecting manufacturing intermediate product innovation,that is,when intermediate product innovation ability is affected by higher financing constraints,The digital transformation plays a more significant role in promoting the innovation of intermediate products in manufacturing industry.On the one hand,the research conclusion of this paper enriches the theoretical research of digital transformation and intermediate product innovation,and deepens the understanding of the relationship between them.On the other hand,it provides empirical evidence and practical enlightenment for China to accelerate digital transformation and promote the innovation of intermediate products in manufacturing industry.Therefore,in order to further release the multiple effects of digitalization,it is necessary to strengthen top-level design,foster new driving forces for accelerating innovation of intermediate products in manufacturing in terms of easing financing constraints,promoting linkage innovation of industrial chain,accelerating industrial structure upgrading and optimizing human capital structure,and take "digital infrastructure" as an opportunity to promote "symbiosis of numbers and real" and regional coordinated development.
